About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee and manage operational aspects of ongoing projects
- Serve as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management
- Review project and budget status
- Manage schedules and prepare status reports
- Assess project issues and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals
- Develop mechanisms to monitor project progress and support intervention and problem solving
- Assist the Shop with capacity and capability offloads to maintain shop schedule, cost and performance
- Manage vendor bases for outsourced and machined material for the NNS Machine Shop
- Serve as point of contact for technical or material issues within the vendor base
- Review and mitigate risks from drawing revision changes after purchase-order awards
- Manage the supply base to assure compliance with cost, quality, and schedule
- Provide monthly reports of subcontracted items and labor to shop and production control
- Arrange material transportation logistics
- Interface internally with Shop Superintendents, Directors, Engineers, Program Directors, Production Control Managers, and Supply Chain
- Spend a portion of time in the yard interfacing with shops and support staff
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of relevant exempt experience; or Master’s Degree and 1 year of relevant professional experience
- Equivalent pathways include NNS Apprentice School graduate, Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate, Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program with 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience, Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience, or High School/GED with specified relevant experience
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Frequent use and general knowledge of industry practices, techniques, and standards
- Knowledge or experience with machining, fabrication and welding
- Ability to perform moderately complex professional tasks
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
- No security clearance required to start
