About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Implement and monitor industrial safety programs to ensure personnel and facility safety
  • Monitor and control organizational safety standards in accordance with OSHA and state codes and regulations
  • Evaluate new equipment and materials for safety
  • Monitor employee exposure to chemicals and other toxic substances
  • Perform surveys and inspections for compliance with safety policies, procedures, regulations, and standards
  • Test and service safety equipment and systems
  • Report non-compliance or hazardous conditions and suggest remedial action
  • Maintain storage areas, consumable supply inventories, and personal protective equipment as needed
  • Respond to facility emergencies involving hazardous materials, radiation, or fire and smoke incidents

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate's Degree and 1 years of relevant experience
  • One of the following may be used as equivalent to Associate's Degree: NNS Apprentice School graduate; Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate; High School/GED and 2 years of related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience; High School/GED and 4 years of non-related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Ability to work first shift
  • Ability to travel 10%-25% of the time
  • Knowledge of OSHA and state codes and regulations
  • Ability to monitor exposure to chemicals and other toxic substances
  • Ability to respond to hazardous materials, radiation, or fire and smoke emergencies
