About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Implement and monitor industrial safety programs to ensure personnel and facility safety
  • Monitor and control safety standards in accordance with OSHA and state codes and regulations
  • Evaluate new equipment and materials for safety
  • Monitor employee exposure to chemicals and other toxic substances
  • Perform surveys and inspections for compliance with organizational policies, procedures, regulations, and safety standards
  • Test and service safety equipment and systems
  • Report non-compliance or hazardous conditions and suggest remedial action
  • Maintain storage areas, consumable supply inventories, and personnel protection equipment as needed
  • Respond to emergency situations involving hazardous materials, radiation, or fire and smoke incidents

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate's Degree and 3 years of relevant experience
  • NNS Apprentice School graduate, as an equivalent to Associate's Degree
  • Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate, as an equivalent to Associate's Degree
  • High School/GED and 2 years of related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, or Military experience, as an equivalent to Associate's Degree
  • High School/GED and 4 years of non-related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, or Military experience, as an equivalent to Associate's Degree
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Ability to work first shift
  • Ability to travel 10%-25% of the time
