About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform pipe welding procedures on stainless steel and copper-nickel pipe
  • Use gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW/TIG), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW/stick), and flux-core arc welding (FCAW/wire welding) processes
  • Weld piping networks supplying ships with chemicals, steam, ventilation, heating, and cooling systems
  • Work safely according to shipyard safety procedures and industry standards
  • Work across varying heights, confined spaces, weather conditions, and multiple shifts in a 24-hour manufacturing environment

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must have graduated from a pipe welder program at a vo-tech school or other training school
  • Program must include training in TIG root and stick fill and cap on steel piping in the 6GR position
  • Ability or willingness to learn pipe welding skills
  • Ability to work in an around-the-clock shipyard manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work at different heights, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to work day or night shifts as required
  • Mississippi Tech Master Certification is nice to have
  • U.S. citizenship is not required for this position
