About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Fit and install piping systems made from steel, galvanized pipe, copper, copper-nickel, and stainless steel
  • Install valves, fittings, and components following drawings, arrangements, and blueprints
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment to ensure proper fit, alignment, and installation
  • Work in a shipyard environment including heights, tight spaces, and changing weather conditions
  • Support production across multiple shifts to meet ship construction schedules
  • Follow Ingalls’ safety standards in every task and work area

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum 2 years pipefitting experience
  • Hands-on pipefitting experience in industrial, construction, or shipyard environments
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, and system layouts
  • Skill in fitting and installing a variety of piping materials and components
  • Strong focus on safety, quality, and teamwork
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Ability to work across multiple shifts as needed
  • Ability to work in heights, tight spaces, and changing weather conditions
  • 3 or more years of marine, shipbuilding and construction experience (nice to have)
  • Experience in layout, fit-up, fabrication and installation of pipe, flanges and valves (nice to have)
  • Ability to read and interpret trade drawings and/or blueprints using metric and standard measurements (nice to have)
  • Experience setting and erecting units with proficiency in the use of Datum Lines (nice to have)
  • Familiarity with fit-up, alignment tolerances and advanced blueprint reading skills (nice to have)
