About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop, modify, apply, and maintain quality evaluation and control systems and protocols
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place
  • Design and analyze inspection and testing processes, mechanisms, and equipment
  • Conduct quality assurance tests and statistical analyses
  • Audit quality systems to identify and correct deficiencies
  • Ensure corrective measures meet reliability standards and documentation complies with requirements
  • Identify US SIB gaps and paths to meet projected demand
  • Evaluate the Australian supply chain and its potential to close supply gaps
  • Support phased pilot manufacturing programs with Australian suppliers
  • Provide technical support to increase efficiency and expedite qualification timelines
  • Assess potential suppliers against Technical and Quality Management System requirements
  • Lead development of an end-to-end supplier qualification process
  • Conduct face-to-face meetings and onsite supplier visits, including Supplier Technical Assessments, hold point inspections, test witnessing, and final product inspections
  • Assess supplier capabilities and challenges and develop qualification roadmaps
  • Collaborate with suppliers from purchase order placement through part delivery
  • Conduct regular supplier visits to track POAM progress

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 9 years of relevant exempt experience; or Master’s Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience; or Ph.D. and 4 years of experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program required
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Final clearance required to start
  • Experience with the development/manufacturing of the Virginia Class Submarine (VCS) preferred
  • Working experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably including Quality Engineering
  • Familiarity with Supplier Quality roles and responsibilities within the Supply Chain material value stream
  • Certification as a (Supplier) Quality Auditor preferred
  • Proven ability to plan, lead, conduct, and document Supplier Quality Audits
  • Working knowledge of Military Standards & Specifications
  • Experience reviewing/approving suppliers’ competencies versus procurement requirements
  • Professional verbal and written communication with high-level officers of the Military, Government, Suppliers, and other organizations
  • Proficiency in providing written technical correspondence and assessments, including recommended actions
  • Willingness/ability to travel 25%-50% of the time
