About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Administer, monitor, and tune large-scale Commvault environments
- Create, review, and optimize backup policies (Server Plans), retention routines, and replication rules, ensuring compliance with RPO and RTO requirements
- Diagnose and resolve complex backup and restore failures, including the investigation of network and I/O bottlenecks
- Conduct periodic disaster recovery (DR) tests
- Administer large-scale storage infrastructures, including storage systems and SAN switches
- Perform zoning, LUN provisioning, and mapping in SAN environments
- Monitor storage capacity, performance, latency, and utilization, supporting expansion planning and volume restructuring
- Support Windows Server and/or Linux environments related to backup and storage infrastructure
- Administer partitions, file systems, and data replication in high-availability (HA) environments
- Open, track, and help resolve technical support cases with Commvault and storage vendors
- Prepare and update technical architecture documentation, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and capacity and SLA reports
- Identify operational risks and implement infrastructure performance and security improvements
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Technology or another higher-education program, plus a postgraduate qualification in IT
- ITIL Foundation v3 or higher certification, or verifiable training
- Proven experience in Information Technology
- Hands-on experience administering Windows Server, Unix, or Linux in mission-critical environments with data replication and high availability (HA)
- Experience supporting and operating large-scale storage infrastructures, including storage systems and SAN switches
- Experience with enterprise backup solutions
- Experience administering and supporting Commvault environments
- Strong knowledge of Commvault architecture, including MediaAgents, CommServe, Server Plans, deduplication, and retention policies
- Must hold at least one valid certification: any Windows Server certification; AZ-800; Linux Professional Institute LPIC-1; an official vendor certification in High-End Storage Administration and Advanced Support or equivalent; or Huawei HCIA Storage
