About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Plan, coordinate, and oversee major healthcare projects through all phases of development
- Lead client relationships and serve as the primary point of contact for client issues
- Assign and direct staff, consultants, vendors, and project teams
- Establish and maintain project budgets and schedules and monitor contract adherence
- Procure and manage an average of $4M in gross project revenue annually
- Achieve an average of $5.3M in new contracts annually through repeat work and new business development
- Lead project pursuits, client presentations, Go/No Go decisions, proposals, interviews, and contract negotiations
- Generate business development leads and identify architectural opportunities with existing clients
- Maintain an appropriate project backlog and develop client and industry-partner networks
- Represent HMC at conferences, events, professional publications, and community activities
- Oversee project management cycles, staffing plans, workloads, profitability, invoicing, collections, and financial issues
- Review specifications, cost estimates, value analyses, drawings, deliverables, and client standards
- Ensure adherence to HMC procedures, technical protocols, standards, and design intent
- Supervise, coach, mentor, and provide performance feedback to staff
- Collaborate with studio leaders, offices, consultants, clients, agencies, and government entities
- Resolve plan-check, approval, staffing, consultant, team, and construction-phase issues
- Participate in design charrettes, critiques, and pin-ups
Requirements
What you’ll need- Architectural degree from an accredited university or equivalent demonstrated proficiency
- Architectural license preferred but not required
- Minimum of 12 years’ experience in production and coordination of documents in all phases of architectural practice and management of healthcare architectural projects
- Minimum of 5 years’ recent experience in healthcare, including HCAI/OSHPD
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a senior leader, leading project teams and engaging in successful business development
- Must be on-site in an HMC studio to lead staff a minimum of 3 days per week
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Ability to oversee several groups performing or supporting work
- Ability to manage client relationships, budgets, schedules, contracts, and project activities
- Knowledge of architectural project management, healthcare projects, HCAI/OSHPD, specifications, cost estimates, value analysis, plan checks, approvals, construction-phase issues, and quality coordination
- Must be able to sign and approve drawings if licensed as required by HMC policies
