Key responsibilities & impact
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee major healthcare projects through all phases of development
  • Lead client relationships and serve as primary point of contact for client issues
  • Assign appropriate staff and direct project teams, consultants, and vendors
  • Establish and maintain project budgets and schedules and monitor contract adherence
  • Procure and manage an average of $4M in gross project revenue annually
  • Achieve an average of $5.3M in new contracts annually through existing clients and new business development
  • Lead project pursuits, Go/No Go decisions, presentations, proposals, interviews, and competitive project wins
  • Identify architectural needs and generate new business development leads
  • Maintain a viable project backlog for the studio and staff
  • Develop client, agency leader, and industry partner networks
  • Represent HMC at conferences, events, public presentations, professional publications, and in the community
  • Write RFPs, negotiate contracts and fees, and develop project marketing materials
  • Lead and manage multiple clients and projects through all phases
  • Coach, mentor, and provide performance feedback to assigned staff
  • Drive accountability for technical protocols and standards
  • Prepare work plans and schedules for technical project elements
  • Monitor staffing, workloads, timelines, budgets, profitability, and gross profit targets
  • Invoice clients and resolve aged accounts and financial issues with accounting
  • Review specifications, cost estimates, value analyses, and project documents
  • Ensure design intent, quality, coordination, compliance, and client standards
  • Resolve plan check, agency approval, and construction-phase issues
  • Ensure materials and systems meet HMC and client standards and remain within budget
  • Participate in design charrettes, critiques, and pin-ups
  • Sign and approve drawings when required by HMC policies if licensed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Architectural degree from an accredited university or equivalent demonstrated proficiency
  • Architectural license preferred but not required
  • Minimum of 12 years’ experience in production and coordination of documents in all phases of architectural practice and in management of healthcare architectural projects
  • Minimum of 5 years’ recent experience in healthcare, including HCAI/OSHPD
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a senior leader, leading project teams and engaging in successful business development
  • Must be on-site in an HMC studio to lead staff a minimum of 3 days per week
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Ability to oversee several groups performing or supporting work
  • Strong business development and client relationship management capabilities
  • Ability to negotiate contracts and fees with clients and consultants
  • Ability to communicate complex project concepts verbally and graphically
  • Knowledge of HMC technical protocols, standards, and procedures
  • Ability to review specifications, cost estimates, and project documents
  • Ability to resolve plan check, approval, and construction-phase issues
  • Ability to ensure materials and systems meet standards and remain within budget
