About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Produce and modify design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans, and specifications for assigned projects
- Work closely with the project manager on research, development, calculations, design, and delivery
- Apply engineering techniques, procedures, and design criteria to projects of varying size and complexity
- Assist in the execution and evaluation of project designs using technical knowledge, experience, and client relationships
- Develop conceptual and detailed designs and calculations using current drawing and technical tools, programs, and software
- Mentor, train, and review work of junior engineering staff and provide constructive feedback
- Complete assigned work within schedule and allotted hours
- Assist in developing project specifications
- Develop discipline-specific engineering project elements and deliverables, including reports, designs, and plans
- Aid coordination and productivity of project team members
- Provide technical guidance to less experienced engineering project team members
- Collaborate with other disciplines on multidisciplinary projects
- Perform quality control reviews of discipline-specific engineering deliverables
- Assist with coordination and planning of schedules, hours, and distribution of work within the discipline
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree in Engineering and 3 years of relevant experience, or PhD in Engineering and 2 years of relevant experience
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and MicroStation
- Thorough understanding of engineering, geometric and algebraic principles
- Ability to manage time, proactively forecast, and communicate project development needs
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification preferred
- Knowledge of MicroStation and OpenBridge Designer preferred
- Experience with NC and SC Design Standards and Manuals preferred
- Ability to optimize work processes and independently progress the majority of designs and tasks
