About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Produce and modify design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans and specifications for assigned projects
  • Consult with the project manager on research, development, calculations, design and delivery
  • Apply engineering techniques, procedures and design criteria to projects of varying size and complexity
  • Address design-related issues through problem solving, client interactions and completion of scheduled tasks
  • Develop conceptual and detailed designs and calculations using current drawing, technical tools, programs and software
  • Plan and distribute discipline-specific work while adhering to project schedules and budgets
  • Assist with marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation
  • Assist with developing project scopes of work and levels of effort
  • Oversee completeness and accuracy of the project team’s technical work
  • Guide and mentor the team toward project objectives
  • Coordinate technical project aspects with clients and teaming partners
  • Collaborate with other disciplines on multidisciplinary projects
  • Recruit, hire, develop and retain staff
  • Coordinate schedules and approve timecards
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 6 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree in Engineering and 5 years of relevant experience, or PhD in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience
  • Understanding of the impacts of decisions on technical design and work planning
  • Ability to coordinate work planning and design across multiple technical disciplines
  • Ability to prepare high quality deliverables on time and within budget and scope
  • Master’s degree in Engineering preferred
  • 8 years relevant experience preferred
  • SC Professional Engineer (PE) certification preferred
  • Experience with SCDOT Design Manuals and Standards preferred
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
