About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist assigned engineering teams, departments, and projects with basic engineering-related tasks
  • Assist engineers with research, development, and design of projects
  • Prepare engineering drawings and documents as assigned
  • Assist with highway design documents, including alignments, design criteria, signing and pavement markings, traffic control, utility coordination, right-of-way, drainage, grading, and cost estimates
  • Participate in field visits or client meetings
  • Develop CAD drafting skills
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent plus current enrollment in an accredited post-secondary engineering program
  • Basic understanding of engineering, geometric, and algebraic principles
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to accept and apply direction from peers and supervisors
  • Understanding of introductory shop drawing and submittal procedures and requirements
  • Ability to perform basic engineering calculations
  • Ability to organize information for use in drawings or other documents
  • Preferred: completion of 2 years of post-secondary engineering program
  • Preferred: basic knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation, or OpenRoads
  • Interest in highway design and transportation projects
  • Must be eligible to work without visa sponsorship
