About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Produce and modify design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans and specifications for assigned projects
  • Perform research, development, calculations, design and delivery with the project manager
  • Apply engineering techniques, procedures and design criteria to projects of varying size and complexity
  • Develop conceptual and detailed designs and calculations using current drawing and technical tools, programs and software
  • Perform aviation-related civil design, planning, documentation and construction support services for commercial airports, aviation cargo and general aviation clients in Southern California
  • Develop designs and coordinate technical matters related to FAA Advisory Circulars, City Standards & Specifications and other design criteria
  • Use Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD to prepare engineering designs and construction documents
  • Collaborate on project teams in the planning and delivery of aviation projects
  • Develop project specifications and discipline-specific reports, designs and plans
  • Coordinate project team members and provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers
  • Perform quality control reviews of engineering deliverables
  • Assist with coordination and planning of schedules, hours and work distribution
  • Mentor, train and review junior engineer staff as needed
  • Complete assigned work within schedule and allocated hours

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree in Engineering and 3 years of relevant experience, or PhD in Engineering and 2 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with civil and aviation infrastructure design projects
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, Civil3D and ArcGIS
  • Thorough understanding of engineering, geometric and algebraic principles
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification preferred, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, communication and organizational skills
  • Solid communication skills and strong technical skills
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
