About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Produce and modify design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans, and specifications
- Perform research, development, calculations, design, and delivery in consultation with the project manager
- Apply engineering techniques, procedures, and design criteria to projects of varying size and complexity
- Address design-related issues through problem solving, client interactions, and schedule-focused task completion
- Develop conceptual and detailed designs and calculations using current drawing and technical tools, programs, and software
- Mentor, train, and review junior engineering staff
- Perform aviation-related civil design, planning, documentation, and construction support for large hub commercial airports, aviation cargo, and general aviation clients in Southern California
- Develop designs and coordinate technical matters related to FAA Advisory Circulars, City Standards & Specifications, and other design criteria
- Plan and direct an internal design team and manage client relationships and project deliverables
- Plan and distribute discipline-specific work while adhering to project schedules and budgets
- Assist with marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation
- Assist with developing project scopes of work and levels of effort
- Oversee completeness and accuracy of project team work within the technical discipline
- Guide and mentor the team toward overall project objectives
- Coordinate technical project aspects with clients and teaming partners
- Collaborate with other disciplines on multidisciplinary projects
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 6 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree in Engineering and 5 years of relevant experience, or PhD in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, Civil3D, and ArcGIS
- Ability to understand impacts of decisions on technical design and work planning
- Ability to coordinate work planning and design across multiple technical disciplines
- Ability to prepare deliverables on time and within budget and scope
- 8 years relevant experience preferred
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification preferred
- Experience with civil and aviation infrastructure design projects preferred
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred
