About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead the roadway discipline in design, development, and delivery of roadway project tasks
Manage project scope, budget, schedule, and quality control
Coordinate project priorities, staffing schedules, and staff assignments
Develop, monitor, and manage the section operating budget and forecast updates
Manage the growth and professional development of the engineering section
Establish priorities and assign staff to jobs
Provide technical coaching, mentoring, and training
Collaborate with other sections and departments on work-sharing opportunities
Support the firm's strategic plan and HNTB's Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA)
Support contracting activities through scope, work plan, and fee reviews
Support project delivery processes, work planning, and monthly project reviews
Assist with marketing, client discovery, proposal generation, interviews, and win-to-work activities
Maintain client contacts and ensure client satisfaction
Recruit, hire, develop, and retain section staff
Manage project management activities and perform technical roadway engineering tasks, including research, reports, design, specifications, and plan preparation
Lead a team with direct and indirect supervision of at least 5, typically 7–10 or more employees
Serve as primary client liaison for West Florida roadway projects
Partner with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions on business development
Lead proposal development and interview presentations
Participate in professional development, career planning, evaluations, merit cycles, and salary reviews

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
8 years of practical experience
2 years of leadership experience
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
Experience managing multi-disciplinary project teams and complex project portfolios preferred
Proven experience delivering FDOT or similar public agency projects preferred
Ability to lead West Florida roadway staff meetings and monitor roadway projection
Ability to balance workload and coordinate support staffing
Ability to serve as primary client liaison and manage project teams
Ability to develop project scopes and fee quotations
Ability to assist with technical proposals and contracts
Ability to support business development and pursuit efforts
Ability to prepare proposal and presentation materials
Ability to participate in hiring, resume screening, and interviews
