About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Produce and modify design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans and specifications for assigned projects
- Consult with the project manager on research, development, calculations, design and delivery
- Apply engineering techniques, procedures and design criteria for complex and cross-discipline projects
- Address design-related issues through creative problem solving and client interactions
- Develop conceptual and detailed designs and calculations using current drawing and technical tools, programs and software
- Mentor, train and review junior engineering staff
- Consider broad engineering solutions using senior-level technical expertise
- Plan discipline-specific work, distribute work, provide leadership, and adhere to schedules and budgets
- Assist with marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation
- Develop scopes of work and levels of effort and manage adherence to scope and budget
- Oversee completeness and accuracy of project team work within the technical discipline
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to team members
- Coordinate technical aspects with clients and teaming partners
- Lead discipline delivery on larger, multi-disciplinary projects
- Coordinate schedules, hours and work distribution across disciplines
- Perform structural analysis, design and construction evaluations for bridge and tunnel projects throughout New England
- Lead technical tasks and coordinate staff efforts for structures replacement and rehabilitation projects
- Serve as a technical structural advisor for infrastructure projects and design-build pursuits in Massachusetts and Rhode Island
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree in Engineering and 7 years of relevant experience, or PhD in Engineering and 6 years of relevant experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification in MA and RI preferred
- Experience with bridge projects for MassDOT, MBTA, RIDOT and Massport preferred
- Excellent technical knowledge and quality work in multiple discipline projects
- Ability to prioritize tasks and display accountability to deliver projects on-time and within budget and scope
- Ability to perform structural analysis, design and construction evaluations for bridge and tunnel projects throughout New England
- Experience leading technical tasks and coordinating staff efforts for contract plans, specifications and cost/qty estimating
- Ability to serve as a technical (structural) advisor for large, complex infrastructure projects and design-build pursuits in Massachusetts and Rhode Island
