About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Produce and modify design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans, and specifications
- Consult with the project manager on research, development, calculations, design, and delivery
- Apply engineering techniques, procedures, and design criteria to complex, cross-discipline projects
- Address design-related issues through problem solving, client interactions, and schedule-focused task completion
- Develop conceptual and detailed designs and calculations using current drawing and technical tools, programs, and software
- Mentor, train, and review junior engineering staff and provide constructive feedback
- Plan discipline-specific work, distribute work, and lead adherence to schedules and budgets
- Assist with marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation
- Develop scopes of work and levels of effort and manage adherence to scope and budget
- Oversee completeness and accuracy of project team work within the technical discipline
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to team members
- Coordinate technical project aspects with client counterparts and teaming partners
- Lead discipline delivery on larger, multidisciplinary projects and coordinate with other disciplines
- Assist with scheduling, hours, and work distribution across disciplines
- Recruit, hire, develop, and retain staff; coordinate schedules and approve timecards
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree in Engineering and 7 years of relevant experience, or PhD in Engineering and 6 years of relevant experience
- Excellent technical knowledge and quality work in multiple-discipline projects
- Ability to prioritize tasks and deliver projects on time, within budget and scope
- Ability to anticipate risks and effects of actions
- Understanding of multidisciplinary project development and delivery objectives
- Ability to innovate project efficiencies using accrued knowledge
- Refined technical skills for problem identification, solution development, and decision-making
- Master’s degree in Engineering preferred
- 10 years of relevant experience preferred
- South Carolina Professional Engineer (PE) preferred
- Experience with SCDOT Design Manuals and Standards preferred
