About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead mechanical design efforts on projects from concept through final construction close-out
Coordinate design development and provide technical direction to project team members
Complete mechanical designs with minimal direction
Write technical reports and create presentations of findings
Communicate results in presentations and meetings
Plan discipline-specific work distribution and lead adherence to schedules and budgets
Assist with marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation
Develop scopes of work and levels of effort and manage adherence to scope and budget
Oversee completeness and accuracy of project team work within the technical discipline
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to team members
Coordinate technical project aspects with clients and teaming partners
Lead discipline delivery on larger, multidisciplinary projects
Coordinate schedules, hours, and work distribution across disciplines
Recruit, hire, develop, and retain staff; coordinate schedules and approve timecards
Identify and analyze mechanical design issues, including alternatives and life cycle analysis
Coordinate HVAC, plumbing, and fire life safety design details, plans, and drawings
Conduct HVAC load analysis and duct design, including code compliance and equipment selection
Perform fluid-flow calculations and hydraulic analyses for piping systems
Prepare process and instrumentation diagrams and control sequences for pumping and ventilation systems
Perform design reviews and quality assurance/control

Requirements

What you’ll need

10 years of relevant experience
Professional Engineering license (PE) in Mechanical Engineering
Experience with Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and BlueBeam
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree in Engineering and 7 years of relevant experience, or PhD in Engineering and 6 years of relevant experience
HVAC, plumbing, or fire protection design experience related to commercial, institutional, and infrastructure facilities
Ability to independently complete mechanical designs with minimal direction
Ability to perform interdisciplinary design coordination and technical analysis of complex project issues
