About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Produce and modify design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans, and specifications for assigned projects
- Consult with the project manager on research, development, calculations, design, and delivery
- Apply engineering techniques, procedures, and design criteria for complex and cross-discipline projects
- Address design-related issues through problem solving, client interactions, and completion of scheduled tasks
- Develop conceptual and detailed designs and calculations using current drawing and technical tools, programs, and software
- Mentor, train, and review the work of junior engineering staff
- Consider a broad range of engineering solutions using senior-level technical expertise
- Lead discipline-specific planning, work distribution, leadership, schedule, and budget adherence on complex or unusual projects
- Assist with marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation
- Develop scopes of work and levels of effort and manage adherence to scope and budget
- Oversee completeness and accuracy of project team work within the technical discipline
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to team members
- Coordinate technical aspects with client counterparts and teaming partners
- Lead discipline delivery on larger, multidisciplinary projects
- Coordinate schedules, hours, and work distribution for other disciplines
- Design and prepare ITS, traffic signal, signing, pavement marking, and MOT plans
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree in Engineering and 7 years of relevant experience, or PhD in Engineering and 6 years of relevant experience
- Experience developing traffic analysis models using VISSIM, Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, Sidra, VISTRO, and TransCAD
- Experience developing safety analysis models using IHSDM, ISATe, HSS, HSM Spreadsheets, and SPICE
- Professional Engineer (PE) or American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), depending on discipline, preferred
- Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
