About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Inspect, observe, document, and verify construction work in progress for compliance with project schedules, contract documents, and plans
- Confirm procedures are followed and materials conform to specifications
- Perform engineering inspection practices, including mathematical calculations and measurements of completed work
- Maintain daily reports of assigned work activities, contractor labor and equipment, and verified material quantities
- Perform on-site material testing
- Produce as-constructed sketches as required
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent and 6 years of construction related experience
- All required jurisdictional certificates and state requirements
- At least 4 years of verifiable FDOT CEI experience in roadway construction (preferred)
- FDOT certifications: CTQP Asphalt I & II, CTQP Earthwork I & II, ACI Concrete Field Technician, CTQP Concrete Technician Level 2, CTQP Drilled Shaft, CTQP Final Estimates I & II, Advanced MOT (preferred)
- Proficient in reading and understanding construction plans and specifications
- Ability to work with others, take direction, and communicate verbally and in writing
- Willingness to learn and train others
- Knowledge of FDOT Electronic Earthwork Records System (ERS)
- Working knowledge and ability to enter samples in FDOT’s Materials Acceptance and Certification System (MAC)
