About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support rail projects involving rail and transit signaling, including positive train control, track/crossing design, control office design, communications, onboard systems, and interfaces with track, OSC, and traction power systems
- Coordinate design and development and assist with technical direction for project scopes
- Provide senior-level technical expertise on rail transit conceptual engineering, detailed engineering designs, and construction contract preparation
- Perform design and calculation work for track design, signal systems, communication systems, OSC, and traction power systems
- Complete rail engineering project elements, including bid documents, proposals, estimates, reports, designs, specifications, and plans
- Oversee conceptual and final design-level track alignment plans, typical sections, cross sections, track charts, track details, and specifications
- Provide technical guidance to earlier-career or less-experienced rail staff; oversee work and direct tasks
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in relevant field and 10 years of relevant experience, or 14 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to make sound decisions based on site field conditions
- Ability to supervise others relating to project assignments
- RWP qualified or capable of receiving training
- Ability to work successfully and professionally with client contacts
- Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
- Preferred: Served as lead signal designer on large rail and transit projects
- Preferred: Ability to develop vital and non-vital application logic
- Preferred: Experience with applying audio frequency and power frequency track circuits into designs
- Preferred: Signal block design development
- Preferred: Development of signaling technical specifications
