About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as a technical expert in wetland and waterways permitting for complex infrastructure projects
- Apply environmental planning strategies, regulatory knowledge, and technical expertise to permitting, compliance, and mitigation efforts
- Conduct wetland delineations, function and values assessments, and mitigation monitoring
- Prepare and review permit applications and compensatory mitigation plans
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies, clients, sub-consultants, in-house personnel, and multidisciplinary teams
- Analyze environmental data and prepare plans, studies, reports, environmental documents, work plans, scopes of work, fee proposals, and RFP responses
- Prepare and review graphics, technical reports, budgets, invoicing, and billing
- Lead public and stakeholder engagement and present information to communities and audiences
- Provide guidance and mentorship to staff
- Lead technical production for permitting assignments and may serve as project manager or task lead
- Support department managers and office leadership with strategic planning, staffing/training, and special projects
- Recommend process and system improvements
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture, Planning, Environmental Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning, Geography, or related field and 10 years related experience, or Master’s Degree in one of these fields and 9 years of relevant experience
- Experience with wetland and waterway permitting for transportation and infrastructure projects
- Experience preparing and reviewing USACE Section 401/404, Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act, and Chapter 91 permit applications
- Experience conducting wetland delineations, function and values assessments, and mitigation monitoring
- Experience developing compensatory mitigation plans
- Familiarity with ArcGIS and GPS technologies for field data collection, spatial analysis, and mapping
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and guidance
- Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) preferred
- New Hampshire Certified Wetland Scientist (CWS) preferred
