About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide guidance and direction in Traction Power and Electrical Engineering expertise and functional discipline
  • Support technical aspects of project development and delivery, including proposal development, scope implementation and change management
  • Apply advanced engineering methods, techniques and analyses to provide solutions, recommendations and resolve issues
  • Ensure industry and HNTB design standards are applied consistently across projects
  • Serve as technical advisor on complex projects, providing technical designs, plans and specifications
  • Direct, mentor and train junior staff
  • Perform independent technical reviews and provide technical guidance on complex or unusual engineering projects
  • Provide technical expertise to project leadership and mentoring/support to production staff
  • Assist with marketing responsibilities and proposal generation
  • Coordinate technical aspects with clients and teaming partners
  • Develop and advise on technical consistency across processes and projects
  • Recruit, hire, develop and retain staff; plan reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession
  • Coordinate schedules and approve timecards
  • Promote industry knowledge through technical papers, presentations and technical committees
  • Discover technical improvement opportunities and collaborate with peers

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 10 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree in Engineering and 9 years of relevant experience, or PhD in Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification preferred
  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification preferred depending on discipline
  • Relevant experience in Rail / Transit Traction Power Design Engineering preferred
  • Understanding of engineering principles behind design code requirements
  • Ability to communicate solutions while understanding stakeholder goals and interests
  • Ability to support and influence multiple concurrent projects
  • Subject matter expertise in the field
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
