About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as Task Lead on transportation planning projects involving bike, pedestrian, rail, bus, and freight mobility improvements
  • Apply planning strategies and use technologies and tools to gather and analyze data, assess outcomes, and develop reports and visualizations
  • Perform research, studies, and documentation for planning projects
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary team members from concept development through project completion
  • Lead internal and external coordination with project team members and other disciplines
  • Develop and maintain client meetings and interactions
  • Conduct or direct research on planning issues, policies, and concepts and formulate recommendations
  • Develop conceptual planning alternatives for urban and transportation planning projects
  • Lead preparation and production of technical plans, studies, written reports, and environmental documents
  • Prepare presentations and facilitate public meetings
  • Coordinate with clients, sub-consultants, and in-house personnel
  • Assist in directing teams for small or medium-sized project tasks
  • Mentor and provide direction to less experienced staff
  • Assist with scopes of work, fee proposals, and RFP responses
  • Write major sections and lead production of plans, studies, reports, and environmental documents
  • Research data sources, gather data, and conduct project analysis
  • Develop planning and analysis strategies using GIS, traffic, or safety software
  • Lead planning processes and technical solutions
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Engineering, or related field and 6 years related professional experience, or Master’s Degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Engineering, or related field and 5 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with traffic simulation tools (e.g., Synchro, VISSIM)
  • Pedestrian simulation experience with Bentley LEGION
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
  • Preferred: Experience with VISSIM or Aimsun
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, Civil Engineering or related field
  • Preferred certifications: Professional Engineer (PE), American Institute of Certified Planner (AICP), Professional Transportation Planner (PTP), Certified Environmental Professional (CEP), Envision, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP)
