About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage all aspects of commercial general liability claims from initial investigation through final resolution
- Evaluate claims involving bodily injury, property damage, premises liability, and products/completed operations
- Review photos, estimates, incident reports, contracts, and other claims documentation to assess damages and scope of loss
- Investigate liability by obtaining statements, reviewing police and incident reports, identifying risk transfer opportunities, and analyzing evidence
- Handle claims from initial notice through final resolution with timely action, accurate documentation, and reporting to carriers based on client guidelines
- Negotiate equitable settlements with insureds, claimants, attorneys, and vendors within assigned authority levels
- Collaborate with defense counsel on litigated claims, including reviewing pleadings and discovery, monitoring case progress, and participating in mediations or settlement discussions
- Provide coverage guidance and responsive support to policyholders and claimants
- Maintain detailed claim file documentation in compliance with company procedures and regulatory standards
- Follow company policies, state regulations, and industry standards
- Analyze and apply policy language, endorsements, and exclusions to determine coverage
- Prepare reservation of rights or appropriate coverage letters
- Collaborate with claims, underwriting, customer service teams, and insurance carriers
Requirements
What you’ll need- Independent Adjustor License in home state or a designated home state required; Texas or California preferred
- California license must be obtained within 60 days of hire
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience handling commercial general liability claims
- Habitational, premises, or commercial liability experience preferred
- Prior experience handling litigated claims preferred
- Minimum of one year experience handling Directors & Officers claims
- Strong understanding of commercial general liability coverage forms and legal liability principles
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including drafting detailed coverage letters, evaluations, and reports
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and decision-making skills
- Proficiency with claim management systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to manage a diverse workload, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- High degree of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail
- Ability to work at a desk for extended periods
- Minimal travel may be required for training or occasional meetings
