About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform and provide technical expertise on cooled and uncooled turbine component design and analysis
  • Support turbine hardware fabrication
  • Support engine testing, data reduction, and validation of analysis models
  • Participate in cooled and uncooled turbine mechanical design efforts and take technical responsibility for projects
  • Apply stress, fatigue, creep, burst, crack growth, and probabilistic lifting analysis to turbine component design
  • Design and analyze turbine components including nozzles, blades, disks, and seal plates
  • Lead development of concepts for stress and weight reduction
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives using lessons learned, best practices, and comparative benchmarking
  • Participate in engine test activities for turbine component strength and life validation and qualification
  • Select instrumentation, create test plans, and participate in engine testing
  • Work with enterprise project engineers and product chiefs to support new growth engines and existing fielded engines
  • Develop and implement strategies supporting the Turbines department’s vision and objectives
  • Support customer satisfaction through strategic plans, innovative products, program support, and technical leadership
  • Communicate technical results to internal and external senior stakeholders
  • Mentor junior engineers
  • Collaborate with the Legacy Engines, APU & Adv Tech Turbine team at the Phoenix Engines site
  • Travel up to 15%, domestic and/or international

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
  • 5+ years of experience in gas turbine engineering and turbine component design and analysis
  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
  • Extensive knowledge of the gas turbine engine industry
  • Proficient in using FEA tools such as ANSYS (Structural)
  • Experience using NX, APDL, GOM, MATLAB, and DARWIN
  • Strong teamwork skills and ability to work in various team roles within cross-functional teams
  • Experience working with global teams across time zones
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • U.S. person status required: U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status
