About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Deputise for the Engineering Manager in their absence
  • Promote safe behaviour and adherence to personal protective equipment and HS&E practices
  • Participate in MOR and staff meetings as required
  • Contribute to organizational goals and objectives
  • Follow up on issues to avoid downtime and promote best practices for resource optimization
  • Foresee operational roadblocks and support resolution or escalate to the Engineering Manager
  • Support learning plans and coaching for the team
  • Support generation and development of proposals, technical documentation, and estimates
  • Review planned resource demand and prepare scenarios with the Manager
  • Coordinate production of consistent technical document templates
  • Recommend optimized resource use based on planned projects
  • Develop, implement, and support 5-year test STRAP objectives
  • Lead and manage the testing team, providing guidance and mentorship to junior engineers
  • Develop, implement, and maintain test strategies and processes
  • Design and execute functional, regression, performance, and automated test cases
  • Collaborate with development, product management, and operations teams on product requirements and testing objectives
  • Identify, report, and track defects; work with development teams to prioritize and resolve issues
  • Analyze testing results, prepare reports, and present findings to stakeholders
  • Stay current with testing methodologies, tools, and industry trends

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum HND/Degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace or related subject area
  • Proven and extensive experience working with LSS systems
  • Proven experience as a Test Engineer, with at least 5 years in a lead or senior role
  • Good problem-solving abilities, and example of doing so
  • A logical approach to resolving test issues
  • Knowledge of pneumatics systems within air-based systems
  • Previous experience in a similar environment would be advantageous
  • Highly resourceful and results-oriented with a strong bias for action and keen sense of urgency
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills to drive results in a highly matrixed organization
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective coaching, mentoring, and influencing skills
  • High energy level with can-do attitude
  • Ability to communicate and build relationships with employees at all levels
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
