About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform mechanical design of rotating and static turbomachinery components such as rotors, stators, blisks, disks and impellers
- Execute modal, vibration, deflection, crack growth, burst, fatigue, thermal and stack analyses using Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- Support testing of components and engine modules across rig, development and production lifecycle stages
- Perform data reduction and analysis on test data
- Generate documentation capturing engineering results and findings from design, simulation, analysis and testing
- Develop and present engineering artifacts during structured design reviews
- Contribute to technical mentoring, process and tool improvement, and knowledge capture
- Support fielded products and development of new products for turbofan, turboshaft and auxiliary power unit applications
- Contribute to continuous improvement of design, analysis and simulation methods
- Report directly to the Engineering Manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, or mathematics
- 7 or more years experience in the mechanical design and analysis of turbomachinery components
- 7 or more years experience with commercial FEA software such as ANSYS APDL, ANSYS Mechanical, Simcenter NASTRAN or equivalent
- U.S. person status: U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status
- Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
- M.S. or PhD in aerospace or mechanical engineering
- Experience with AI/ML, adjoint optimization, surrogate modeling and multidisciplinary optimization
- Experience with MATLAB, Python and C++ scripting
- Knowledge of turbomachinery test methodologies such as strain gages, light probes and kulites
- Familiarity with manufacturing methods, product support, and field support of gas turbine engines
- Problem solving proficiency with root cause analysis (RCCA)
- Strong writing, speaking and presenting skills
- CAD modeling experience with NX, UG, Solidworks, or CATIA
- Work visa sponsorship is not available
