About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Ensure required prerequisites, including design inputs, tools, documentation, deliverables, schedule, and budget, are in place before work begins
Create Functional Design Specifications (FDS)
Create Detailed Design Specifications (DDS)
Create FAT and SAT procedures and operator manuals
Implement Honeywell DCS and PLC controllers
Create HMI displays, dynamic and static shapes or objects, and faceplates
Migrate displays from old releases to new releases
Configure and administer servers and stations in physical or virtual environments
Configure networks, including switches and routers
Participate in kick-off meetings, internal FATs, FATs, SATs, commissioning, and start-up
Communicate with customers to define and agree project requirements
Coordinate engineering teams on projects
Monitor and ensure project scope and schedule are met
Recommend quality and efficiency improvements within the engineering group
Share technical knowledge with project and engineering teams
Report progress, technical problems, and changes to the project lead engineer or Project Manager
Coach and mentor less experienced engineers
Manage the technical scope of assigned projects
Travel to customers, averaging 50% annually

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor / Master of Science Degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited college or university
Preferred specializations: Automation and Computers, Informatics, Mathematics, Cybernetics, or Electronics
Minimum 7 years of relevant project experience
Relevant site hands-on experience with systems and DCS
Relevant customer interfacing experience
Experience with DCS controller configuration, testing, commissioning, and start-up
Knowledge of industrial communication protocols: Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, Fieldbus, and OPC
System integration knowledge
Basic CCNA knowledge
Ability to read P&IDs
Ability to independently query and analyze data from operational, engineering, or process databases
Understanding of database structures, relationships, and data integrity principles
Prompt engineering
AI-assisted research and documentation
Critical evaluation and validation of AI outputs
Responsible AI usage with security and confidentiality awareness
Critical thinking
Ability to work on multiple projects in parallel
Ability to mentor and coach junior engineers
