About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop detailed fire alarm system designs in accordance with BS 5839 and relevant standards
- Produce fire alarm layouts, cause and effect matrices, zoning plans and equipment schedules
- Prepare design calculations, specifications and technical documentation
- Coordinate designs with multidisciplinary project teams including MEP, architectural and specialist systems designers
- Review client requirements and ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations
- Support design reviews, technical submissions and approvals processes
- Liaise with suppliers, contractors and project stakeholders throughout the design phase
- Provide technical support during installation, commissioning and project delivery stages where required
- Participate in design coordination meetings and attend site visits as necessary
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experienced Fire Alarm Design Engineer
- Experience with Gent fire alarm systems is highly desirable
- FIA Advanced Design Qualification preferred
- BAFE accreditation or demonstrable experience working within BAFE-certified environments preferred
- Experience with AutoCAD for layouts and schematics preparation
- Some exposure to Navisworks for BIM coordination and design development is desirable
- Experience working on large-scale commercial, healthcare, data centre, transportation or infrastructure projects
- Experience designing systems in accordance with BS 5839 and relevant standards
