About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead development of process control system scope for LNG project bids, productized designs, and awarded equipment projects
  • Develop and review P&IDs, control narratives, logic diagrams, alarm philosophies, permissives, interlocks, and operating sequences
  • Define control system functional requirements and collaborate with PLC and DCS programming teams on control logic and operator interfaces
  • Design, evaluate, and implement advanced control strategies for LNG processes
  • Analyze process and control system data, troubleshoot dynamic process behavior, tune control loops, and recommend improvements
  • Plan and execute functional testing, simulation, Factory Acceptance Testing, and integrated system testing
  • Provide onsite startup and commissioning support, including loop checkout, logic validation, sequence testing, troubleshooting, and performance monitoring
  • Deliver aftermarket customer training on control system operation, process response, alarm management, troubleshooting, and control strategies
  • Support aftermarket customers through remote and onsite technical assistance, process data evaluation, optimization, and control strategy upgrades
  • Collaborate with Process Engineering, Process Systems, Safety Engineering, Startup and Commissioning, and project teams
  • Develop and maintain controls engineering standards, specifications, and reusable design methods
  • Review customer and project specifications and communicate technical recommendations and risks
  • Prepare process controls documentation, test procedures, test records, commissioning plans, operating guidance, and technical reports
  • Identify opportunities to improve control system designs, engineering workflows, standard solutions, and plant performance
  • Provide 10–20% backup support to the I&E engineering function, including I&E design and implementation reviews and Factory Acceptance Testing of fabricated modules

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, or mathematics
  • 2+ years of experience as a Process or Process Controls Engineer; significant applicable experience in plant operations will also be considered
  • 2+ years of proficiency in preparing controls narratives and logic diagrams
  • 2+ years of proficiency in reviewing and preparing P&IDs
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Willingness to travel 10–20% to support customer-related activities in the US and internationally
  • Experience in function testing and commissioning PLC logic
  • Experience in evaluating process data to recommend control strategies
  • Ability to act as a liaison with external programming teams and clients
  • Familiarity with operating complex process plants, especially LNG or cryogenic plants
  • Experience with control design
  • Prior knowledge or experience in Controls and/or Systems Engineering
  • Working knowledge of I&E design, implementation, module fabrication, or factory acceptance testing sufficient to provide backup support
