About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Plan, direct, execute and coordinate activities for a large-scale, multi-year program or portfolio of medium to large programs.
  • Ensure program goals, strategic objectives, scope, budget, schedule, quality and business benefits are achieved.
  • Define, develop and enhance program management best practices, processes and policies.
  • Provide regular status updates to senior executives and maintain communication with senior leadership and steering committees.
  • Develop and direct multi-year portfolio and program execution plans.
  • Direct portfolio and program definition, prioritization, planning, execution, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Track risks, issues, dependencies, contingency plans and resource allocation.
  • Oversee programs from inception through successful implementation.
  • Develop integrated program plans, project plans, schedules, milestones and documentation.
  • Assign responsibilities and direct project personnel to keep programs on schedule and within budget.
  • Establish project reporting and documentation standards.
  • Manage project estimates, forecasts, actuals and financial performance.
  • Ensure appropriate delivery methodologies, quality assurance test plans and EPMO deliverables.
  • Prepare and communicate program status reports and resolve project issues.
  • Provide thought leadership and program management advice to support business needs.
  • Recruit, onboard, develop and direct program and project management professionals.
  • Plan team resource needs, allocate and review work, and identify training requirements.
  • Lead a team of 5-25 project management professionals.
  • Manage an annual program budget of $20M+.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Bachelor degree preferred or relevant experience in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience leading large scale broad-based programs/projects.
  • Must have managed multi-year Programs/portfolios with budgets in excess of $20M.
  • Experience with project and portfolio management tools and financial support systems strongly preferred.
  • Healthcare experience preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification required or must obtain within one (1) year of hire.
  • Agile Certified Practitioner (ACP) Certification preferred.
  • Strong portfolio and program management skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the software development process, including requirements gathering, analysis/design, development tools/technologies, release/version control, contemporary testing methodologies and deployment management.
  • Strong analysis, design and implementation experience.
  • Knowledge of project financial management best practices in estimating, forecasting, and tracking actuals.
  • Management understanding of hardware and systems software.
  • Ability to communicate needs and schedules to IT and business owners, and ensure plans and standards are in place.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects in a cross-functional environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop and motivate staff.
