About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead the team behind NodeZero Tripwires
Own the delivery strategy for decoy and deception development, detection, alerting, and the customer-facing experience
Partner with Product to sequence the roadmap and expand Tripwires coverage
Recruit, mentor, and retain engineers focused on distributed systems and security
Oversee design of tripwire types that attract attackers and resemble legitimate assets
Invest in SLOs, observability, on-call, and incident response
Partner with the Attack team to translate offensive findings into detection coverage
Establish design reviews, technical writing, clear API contracts, and durable decision records
Stay close to technical details while supporting a substantial data platform rebuild

Requirements

What you’ll need

Experience managing backend, data, or platform engineering teams, with a track record of shipping through the team
Solid fundamentals in backend and distributed systems, including data modeling, API design, queues/streams, and batch versus streaming tradeoffs
Comfort with modern cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS
Experience with containers and observability tooling such as Datadog or similar
Ability to lead through technical ambiguity and facilitate design discussions
Clear written communication for roadmaps, design documents, and postmortems
Ownership of day-to-day team operations
Working knowledge of deception technology, including honeypots, honeytokens, and canaries
Nice to have: exposure to event-driven architectures or streaming platforms such as Kafka, Pulsar, Kinesis, or Flink
Nice to have: understanding of credential access, lateral movement, and privilege escalation
Nice to have: background in cybersecurity, pentesting, or vulnerability management
Nice to have: familiarity with Python and/or Go
