About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide diagnosis, treatment, consultation, and comprehensive patient care in inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Maintain and promote patient health and educate patients about preventative care and prescribed treatments
  • Conduct physicals, order tests, and prescribe medications as appropriate
  • Coordinate timely care for defined patient populations under physician supervision
  • Attend and participate in interprofessional rounds
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to manage and coordinate patient care
  • Conduct initial, ongoing, and discharge health assessments
  • Identify health characteristics, develop care plans, initiate interventions, and evaluate outcomes
  • Perform invasive, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures within licensure and credentialed privileges
  • Lead quality, outcome, and patient-safety improvement activities
  • Assist with development and implementation of patient-safety protocols
  • Mentor and coach staff, serve as a clinical resource, and precept Nurse Practitioner students and medical residents
  • Participate in research and evidence-based activities
  • Identify practice-change and performance-improvement opportunities
  • Document care and support financial targets by reducing length of stay and optimizing efficiency
  • Travel within the Houston Metropolitan area as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Master’s degree or higher from an accredited school of Nursing
  • Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioners program
  • Two years of registered nurse, advanced practice, or nurse practitioner clinical experience
  • RN – Registered Nurse – Texas State Licensure; must obtain permanent Texas license within 60 days if establishing Texas residency
  • APRN Non-Acute Care state license
  • Non-Acute Care ANCC recognized certification
  • BLS – Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA) – American Heart Association
  • AP – Prescriptive Authority – Texas Board of Nursing / Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation
  • DEA – Narcotics License within 6 months
  • English proficiency sufficient to perform essential job functions
  • Clinical assessment, documentation, leadership, analytical, organizational, problem-solving, time management, critical thinking, and clinical judgment skills
  • Ability to work autonomously under the Nurse Practice Act
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, families, and coworkers
