About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatment, consultation, and health promotion
  • Function as a licensed registered nurse and nurse practitioner in inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Conduct physicals and health assessments
  • Order diagnostic tests and prescribe medications as appropriate
  • Coordinate timely patient care for defined patient populations under physician supervision
  • Coordinate care between healthcare providers and participate in interprofessional rounds
  • Develop plans of care, initiate interventions, and evaluate outcomes
  • Perform invasive, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures within licensure and credentialed privileges
  • Lead quality, outcome, and patient-safety improvement activities
  • Collaborate with interprofessional healthcare teams and advocate for patients and families
  • Provide education to patients about preventative care and prescribed treatments
  • Serve as a clinical resource, consultant, patient advocate, preceptor, and staff coach
  • Participate in research, evidence-based activities, presentations, and publications
  • Support financial targets through timely documentation, efficiency, and resource allocation
  • Travel within the Houston Metropolitan area as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Master’s degree or higher from an accredited school of Nursing
  • Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioners program
  • Two years of registered nurse, advanced practice, or nurse practitioner clinical experience
  • RN – Registered Nurse – Texas State Licensure
  • APRN Non-Acute Care state license
  • Non-Acute Care ANCC-recognized certification
  • BLS – Basic Life Support or Instructor certification from the American Heart Association
  • AP – Prescriptive Authority – Texas Board of Nursing / Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation
  • DEA narcotics license within 6 months
  • Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English
  • Assessment, clinical, documentation, leadership, and analytical skills
  • Organizational, problem-solving, time-management, critical-thinking, and clinical-judgment skills
  • Ability to work autonomously under the Texas Nurse Practice Act
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, family members, and coworkers
