About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage day-to-day HR-related legal support for Howmet’s international operations outside the US
  • Advise business leaders and HR teams on European employment matters, mainly France, Germany, the UK and Hungary
  • Manage outside counsel on non-US employment matters in Europe, Japan, China and Australia
  • Review and update employment policies and procedures with HR partners, including employee handbooks, bonus plans, compensation guidelines and severance programs
  • Ensure offer letters, employment agreements and separation agreements are legally compliant and aligned with business requirements
  • Manage outside counsel on litigation matters
  • Propose practical commercial solutions to legal and business risks and drive issues to resolution
  • Keep HR teams informed about significant employment legislation affecting the business or HR policies in Europe and Asia
  • Operate in an international environment with clients and colleagues across different regions and legal systems
  • Support Howmet Aerospace Inc., a global manufacturer of advanced engineered solutions for aerospace, defence and transportation markets

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Law degree
  • Member in good standing of the applicable bar association
  • 8+ years of post-qualification experience from an international law firm
  • In-house experience is an advantage
  • Excellent verbal and written English language skills
  • French language skills are a significant advantage
  • High level of integrity and discretion, aligned with Howmet Values, policies and Legal Department practices
  • Appropriate skill and confidence in own abilities
  • Risk-based approach to prioritisation and risk mitigation
  • Ability to explain legal issues clearly and communicate with stakeholders at different organisational levels
  • Proactively implements processes and procedures across multiple jurisdictions
