About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Analyze and evaluate complex accounting policies and financial transactions
Analyze, test, and report financial data
Participate in preparing financial and management reports for senior-level management
Provide interpretive value and context on accounting matters through consultation with Business Unit and Resource Unit management
Evaluate, document, and conclude on complex accounting issues and financial transactions
Develop and implement procedures for new accounting pronouncements
Develop global accounting and reporting standards
Oversee and revise the Howmet financial accounting policy manual
Analyze monthly financial results of legal entities and summarize findings for executive management
Assist with preparation and review of SEC financial filings and quarterly earnings materials
Manage relationships with assigned Business Unit personnel and Resource Units, including Business Development, Treasury, Tax, and Legal
Assess and improve key internal controls of the Financial Accounting group
Coordinate requests and analyses with External Auditors
Report to the Assistant Controller of the group

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited university
Professional Certification (CPA)
Minimum financial accounting work experience of seven years
Extensive knowledge of accounting under U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and SEC reporting requirements
Introductory knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards
Potential for up to 10% travel
Strong communication and technical writing skills
Work experience in SOX and internal controls over financial reporting
Work experience in a national public accounting firm
