About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Build Humana's Agentic Development Lifecycle, an AI-native software delivery platform program
Lead four dedicated program tracks with governance and targets for reuse, uptime, cost, and regulatory defensibility
Enable productivity across a wide range of IT disciplines using generative AI
Apply Agile, Engineering, and DevOps practices across the IT organization
Lead enterprise-wide organizational change and influence matrixed teams without relying on formal reporting structures
Ensure product and platform engineering delivery for assigned teams
Coach and teach agile and operations teams adopting new technologies and ways of working
Review and write architecture decisions, ADRs, and agent design specifications
Prototype sub-agent definitions, tool/MCP integrations, prompts, and character specifications in the agent harness
Read traces, evaluate evaluation-harness output, and debug agent behavior with engineers
Contribute to reference implementations for Factory PODs
Participate in code and design reviews
Create presentations, raise awareness of delivered features, and communicate progress to senior leaders
Report to the Director of AI Enablement within Enterprise Engineering Services

Requirements

What you’ll need

15+ years in software engineering
5+ years leading engineering managers, leads, or multiple squads
Demonstrated ownership of a multi-track or platform-scale program with 3+ parallel workstreams and 25+ engineers
Hands-on depth in at least two of distributed systems, platform/SRE engineering, ML/AI engineering, and cloud infrastructure
Production experience with Kubernetes and at least one major cloud: GCP, Azure, or AWS
Working fluency with LLM application development, including agent frameworks, prompt engineering, RAG, tool/function calling, and evaluation methodology
Track record of shipping in a regulated environment with security and compliance constraints
Ability to drive alignment across peer organizations without direct authority
Experience with enterprise-grade engineering platforms similar to Azure DevOps Services, GitHub, SonarQube, Artifactory, TFE, or equivalent tools
Experience with cloud technologies, Infrastructure as Code, Kubernetes, GitOps, Argo, and Terraform Enterprise
Deep understanding of large language models, including how they are trained
Excellent written communication, including architecture documents and VP-ready one-pagers
Caring and compassionate leadership focused on team growth
Ability to provide meaningful and direct feedback to direct reports
Strong communication and ability to work in a highly agile environment
Technical credibility and recent production code or architecture experience; candidates without such experience in the last 24 months are unlikely to be suitable
Master's degree strongly preferred
Experience with agentic AI in production
Familiarity with Claude Code, Claude Agent SDK, MCP, or comparable agent tooling
Healthcare, payer, or life sciences background with HIPAA/PHI handling experience preferred
Exposure to AI governance frameworks such as NIST AI RMF, ISO 42001, EU AI Act, or model risk management
FinOps experience preferred
Experience modernizing legacy estates or driving enterprise-scale developer-productivity programs preferred
