About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead full stack engineering strategy and execution across UI, APIs, and data platforms
- Define architectural direction and standards for code quality, scalability, and maintainability
- Select frameworks, languages, and platforms across engineering layers
- Approve architectural patterns, cloud strategy, and integrations
- Identify opportunities to refactor, modernize, or retire legacy systems
- Drive delivery across multiple engineering teams through sprint planning, dependency management, risk mitigation, and blocker removal
- Prioritize feature development, platform investments, and technical debt
- Make trade-offs on scope, timelines, and resource allocation
- Ensure predictable, high-quality delivery
- Define and enforce testing, code review, and performance standards
- Establish release-readiness criteria and approve production deployments
- Guide security, compliance, and data protection strategies
- Serve as senior escalation point for critical system issues
- Diagnose and resolve complex cross-stack production incidents
- Lead incident decisions including rollback, hotfix, and root-cause remediation
- Direct engineering resources during high-severity events
- Drive solutions that improve system resilience and reduce incident frequency
- Partner with Product, UX, QA, Platform, Architecture, and executive teams on roadmaps and priorities
- Translate business requirements into technical execution plans
- Coordinate cross-team dependencies and communicate risks, trade-offs, and system impacts
- Drive investment decisions in automation, tooling, observability, and platform improvements
- Lead initiatives to reduce operational toil and improve developer experience
- Mentor and develop tech leads and senior engineers
- Provide coaching, feedback, and performance guidance
- Influence hiring strategies and succession planning
- Lead application rationalization, API onboarding, vendor-product elimination, and Cloud 3.0 migration initiatives
- Support modernization toward cloud-native architectures
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field
- 8+ years of progressive IT experience, including senior-level development on large-scale systems
- 2+ years of experience leading engineering teams or major technical initiatives
- Proven experience in full stack development across UI, backend services, APIs, and data layers
- Strong understanding of modern architecture patterns and cloud platforms
- Passion for improving consumer experiences through technology
- Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot for backend and microservices development
- Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS
- Hands-on experience with .NET application development
- Solid understanding of distributed systems and cloud-based architectures
- Experience implementing modern DevOps practices, including CI/CD, automation, and containerization
- AZ-900 or other cloud certification preferred
- Experience with cloud migration and modernization initiatives preferred
- Exposure to large-scale enterprise environments and distributed systems preferred
- Minimum home internet speed of 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload
- Ability to work from a dedicated space without ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI/HIPAA information
