Key responsibilities & impact

Devise effective strategies for executing and delivering IT business initiatives
Act as a liaison between business and functional stakeholders
Identify and deliver strategic enablement solutions
Advise executives on functional strategies and significant matters
Lead multiple engineering teams designing, building, modernizing, and operating enterprise-scale technology solutions
Establish and execute technology and engineering roadmaps
Provide technical and architectural leadership and make pragmatic technology decisions
Oversee end-to-end software delivery from strategy and solution design through development, testing, implementation, production readiness, and ongoing operational support
Manage technology budgets, resources, capacity, vendor relationships, and delivery commitments across concurrent initiatives
Establish and track engineering and delivery performance measures
Drive continuous improvement, legacy-platform evaluation, technical-debt reduction, and technology modernization
Partner with Product Management, Business, Architecture, Security, Infrastructure, Data, and Operations teams
Communicate technical topics, investment needs, delivery risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations to senior leaders
Establish production ownership and operational discipline, including incident management, root-cause analysis, disaster recovery, performance, availability, and service-level expectations
Build a culture of engineering excellence, innovation, collaboration, ownership, and continuous learning

Requirements

What you’ll need

Hands-on software engineering leadership experience leading multiple engineering teams responsible for enterprise-scale technology solutions
10+ years of progressive technology experience
Experience leading software engineering, application development, modernization, or technology transformation initiatives in complex enterprise environments
Experience leading and developing engineering managers, technical leads, architects, developers, and other technical professionals
Ability to establish and execute technology and engineering roadmaps aligned with business strategy and enterprise technology standards
Strong understanding of Agile delivery, DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing, cloud technologies, APIs, microservices, observability, resiliency, and secure software development
Technical and architectural leadership experience
Experience evaluating solution options across scalability, performance, security, maintainability, cost, and speed to market
Accountability for end-to-end software delivery
Experience managing technology budgets, resources, capacity, vendor relationships, and delivery commitments
Ability to establish and track engineering and delivery performance measures
Experience driving continuous improvement and technology modernization
Ability to partner with Product Management, Business, Architecture, Security, Infrastructure, Data, and Operations teams
Strong executive presence and communication skills
Ability to manage competing priorities and make independent, risk-informed decisions
Experience establishing production ownership and operational discipline, including reliability, incident management, root-cause analysis, disaster recovery, performance, availability, and service-level expectations
Demonstrated ability to build a culture of engineering excellence, innovation, collaboration, ownership, and continuous learning
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience
Preferred: Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related discipline
Preferred: Experience in healthcare, health insurance, clinical, or other highly regulated environments
Preferred: Experience with clinical platforms, interoperability, enterprise integration, cloud modernization, data platforms, or healthcare technology ecosystems
Preferred: Experience leading large-scale platform modernization or transformation while maintaining production stability and reliability
Preferred: Experience managing blended workforces of employees, contractors, strategic partners, and technology vendors
