Key responsibilities & impact

Prepare, analyze, and distribute periodic financial statements and management reports for internal and external stakeholders
Interpret financial results, research variances, reconcile accounts, and translate complex financial data into actionable insights
Ensure reports and disclosures comply with government regulations, professional standards, and organizational policies
Prepare consolidation journal entries and eliminate intercompany transactions
Consolidate divisional and subsidiary financial accounts for internal and external financial statements
Use advanced Excel and SQL to organize, validate, reconcile, and analyze large financial data sets
Develop repeatable reporting processes
Identify trends and exceptions
Support efficient and accurate reporting
Manage recurring and ad hoc priorities, documentation, deadlines, and dependencies
Adjust priorities as business needs change
Influence department strategy and make decisions on complex technical approaches

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field
5+ years of progressive health, finance, accounting, or technical insurance experience
Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, complex formulas and functions, lookups, data validation, data modeling, and analysis of large data sets
Strong SQL experience, including writing and modifying queries, troubleshooting data discrepancies, and extracting data for financial reporting and analysis
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Experience facilitating and leading meetings with senior leadership
Dedicated workspace without ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI/HIPAA information
Home internet with at least 25 Mbps download speed and 10 Mbps upload speed
Willingness to occasionally travel to Humana offices, including the Louisville, KY facility
Preferred: experience using technical resources, financial reporting systems, data visualization tools, automation, or other technologies that improve reporting accuracy and efficiency
