About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, analyze, plan, and modify network components supporting customer communication implementation activities
  • Develop and evaluate remote site solutions throughout Humana and its subsidiaries
  • Prepare short-term and long-term capacity analyses for switching, routing, transmission, and signaling
  • Conduct SDWAN network design, testing, feasibility studies, and cost studies
  • Develop standard solutions and establish sequences of network activities
  • Evaluate site growth and expansion impacts on remote services
  • Participate in departmental strategy and make technical decisions on project components
  • Engineer and design next-generation SDWAN and remote site infrastructure
  • Plan and implement network solutions and establish operational and maintenance programs
  • Optimize remote network performance, resiliency, availability, resource utilization, and innovation
  • Provide cloud network design, engineering, and administrative support for physical and virtual networking devices
  • Leverage highly available networking technologies in heterogeneous environments
  • Participate in on-call and implementation duties during nights and weekends as needed
  • Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders and guide, mentor, and influence engineers

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • BS/BA, preferably in a technical or scientific field, or in lieu of BS/BA, 4+ years industry experience plus industry certifications
  • 4+ years of experience working with SDWAN architecture network designs, implementations, and support
  • Network engineering certification such as CCNP/CCIE, Fortinet NSE, AASX or equivalent
  • 4+ years of technical network engineering experience and 3+ years of project leadership experience
  • 4+ years of Layer 2/Layer 3 network architectural design and engineering experience across WAN, cloud, and data center environments
  • 4+ years of experience working with BGP and other WAN technologies
  • Strong experience supporting large-scale environments and remote sites
  • Experience with Cisco networking equipment
  • Experience with Palo Alto Firewalls
  • Experience in SDWAN overlay technologies
  • Knowledge of QoS and network security functions, including firewalls, VPN, and IPS
  • Ability to manage complex multi-organizational projects
  • Experience implementing and operating software-defined network environments, including Cisco, Aruba, Fortinet, and Meraki
  • Vendor management skills
  • Experience with data center colocation facilities and virtual network fabric vendors such as Equinix and Mega-Port
  • Pass eQIP certification background check
  • Not eligible for visa sponsorship
  • Ability to translate business requirements into scalable, supportable network designs
  • Strong documentation, communication, and presentation skills
  • Leadership mindset with ability to guide, mentor, and influence other engineers
  • High degree of ownership, initiative, and accountability
  • 25 Mbps minimum download and 10 Mbps minimum upload internet speed for home or hybrid employees
  • Dedicated workspace without ongoing interruptions to protect PHI/HIPAA information
