About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead and grow the Platform & Data team, including data engineering, data quality and DevOps/reliability capabilities
Own the target architecture and operating model for infrastructure, environments and deployment platforms
Drive platform reliability through monitoring, alerting, incident management, automation and Infrastructure as Code
Lead modernisation of the data warehouse, pipelines and integrations across clinical and corporate systems
Establish automated data quality, governance and reliable self-service data capabilities
Embed security, privacy and compliance into platform and data engineering, including GDPR, GxP and 21 CFR Part 11 where applicable
Own platform and data costs
Manage external vendors or implementation partners where needed
Partner with Product, Clinical Operations, Finance, Quality, Security and the CTO organisation to turn business needs into clear platform priorities
Shape the platform supporting clinical products and the data ecosystem supporting the business
Establish reliable, well-governed ways of working and modernise data platforms and integrations

Requirements

What you’ll need

10+ years of experience in platform, infrastructure or data engineering
3+ years leading engineers with production-reliability accountability
Strong track record of hiring, developing and leading senior engineering teams
Experience owning a data platform or warehouse modernization end to end
Hands-on understanding of cloud architecture, CI/CD, automated deployment and Infrastructure as Code in production
Experience establishing reliability practices, including service levels, monitoring, alerting and incident management
Strong understanding of security, access control, privacy and audit requirements
Ability to stabilize existing systems while building new capabilities in parallel
Professional English
Experience in clinical research, healthcare, pharma or another regulated environment
AWS and Snowflake experience, including understanding of their cost models
Knowledge of FHIR, HL7 or CDISC
Experience with Power BI, SAS or comparable analytical platforms
Experience leading geographically distributed teams
