Senior Systems Engineer – OLED
Hyundai Mobis North America. Analyze customer and internal requirements and specifications and translate them into optical designs .
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Analyze customer and internal requirements and specifications and translate them into optical designs
- Evaluate and set up measurement systems
- Understand the design and manufacturing of display modules and components
- Perform field failure analysis and evaluate solutions for production and product issues
- Use CAD interfaces including NX and CATIA
- Set up End of Line (EOL) processes for display manufacturing
- Develop new automotive display technologies with Tier 2 suppliers, including POLED, Quantum Dot, and FALD
- Collaborate between internal engineering teams and external customers
- Support customer discussions on future product definitions, requirement refinement, and issue resolution
- Take design ownership and propose solutions to maximize system performance
- Work with local customers, local team members, and research engineers from Korea and/or in Korea
- Support projects with headquarters research engineers remotely or at the business site
- Report to the Engineering Manager of Infotainment Displays
- Work on automotive HUD, ICS, and display products
Requirements
What you’ll need- B.S., M.S., or PhD related to Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent preferred
- ~10+ years of experience in OLED design or working in the automotive industry with a focus on Display Technology
- Expertise-level knowledge in display technology including OLED, TFT, FALD, and Edge-lit
- Previous automotive engineering experience at a Tier 1 Supplier
- Experience with OLED optical system design and analysis using CodeV, LightTools, SPEOS, or Zemax
- Experience with evaluation and measurement of OLED optical performance, including distortion, disparity, brightness, and uniformity
- Experience with spectrometer and luminance meter
- Experience with mechanical layout design based on Car 3D data
- Tolerance analysis for display components and vehicle interior
- Design-level OLED Engineering experience with Major OEMs
- International joint work experience
- Strong communication, listening, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to collaborate across internal teams, OEMs, suppliers, and external customers
- Adaptability to work with overseas headquarters, including nightly discussions and cross-cultural communication
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities
- Must be able to work on-site at MNA and frequently off-site at OEM facilities
- Must be available for rapid response to on-site customer issues within 3 days' notice
- Must not require Mobis immigration sponsorship now or in the future; sponsorship is not provided, including H-1B, OPT, STEM OPT, CPT, TN, and J-1 authorization support
