About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Instrument and test vehicles for performance and drivability at Mojave Proving Ground and other sites
Maintain, calibrate, and track test equipment
Update, maintain, and repair vehicle hardware and software
Perform vehicle and equipment issue root-cause analysis
Instrument test vehicles with fuel flow meters, g sensors, ETAS equipment, V-box, and thermocouples
Install data collection devices, CAN interfaces, analog signals, noise and g measurements, thermocouples, and strain/string gauges
Identify and tap CAN wires and use Vehicle Spy or CANalyzer to create competitor CAN databases
Test vehicles on real roads, California proving grounds, and other test tracks
Enter and post-process test data using Excel, MATLAB, ETAS-INCA MDA, and/or other software
Confirm data legitimacy through sense checks during testing and before submission to engineering
Perform maintenance, repairs, service intervals, cleaning, fueling, camouflage installation/removal, and malfunction diagnosis
Update test vehicles with development parts, including tires and engines
Order and track parts, materials, and equipment; support Finance Team audits
Provide cross-functional support to other Chino teams
Perform administrative functions including time cards, vacation requests, and travel requests
Perform additional assigned projects
Travel up to 35%, including multi-day trips, primarily to California Proving Grounds near Mojave, CA

Requirements

What you’ll need

Preferred Associates Degree in Automotive Technology or equivalent
Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
5 years experience as an Automotive Technician, especially R&D and/or testing
Experience working in culturally diverse team environment
Expert or Proficient skills in MS Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
Proficient time management and organization skills
Proficient oral and written communication skills
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire
Must be able to lift up 75 lbs. and work with hand power tools
Must have clear understanding of safety
May have to lift up to 50 lbs.
