About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead, manage, and develop the accounting team
- Establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Ensure compliance with audit, tax, and regulatory requirements
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
- Prepare and review financial statements, general ledger activity, and supporting schedules
- Ensure accuracy of job cost reporting, WIP schedules, and cost-to-complete estimates
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, and revenue recognition
- Review and approve accounts payable check runs
- Verify capitalization and depreciation of fixed assets
- Monitor and analyze revenue and expense variances
- Collaborate with external advisors on income, business privilege, and other non-payroll tax filings
- Ensure accurate and timely filing and payment submissions
- Support insurance renewals with financial documentation and supplemental schedules
- Collaborate with the VP Finance/CFO on banking relationships, treasury functions, and financing activities
- Support financial planning, analysis, and strategic decision-making
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting
- 5 years of relevant accounting experience
- Progressive leadership experience
- Some public accounting experience preferred
- Union payroll processing preferred
- Experience filing multi-state payroll taxes
- Advanced computer skills in MS Office applications, accounting software, and databases
- Vista Viewpoint desirable
- Ability to manipulate large amounts of data with high attention to detail and accuracy
- Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations
- Ability to direct and supervise
- Local to York, Pennsylvania
- Occasional travel to other offices or offsite meetings
- Ability to collaborate effectively with various teams
