About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Contribute to reserve valuation, the Appointed Actuary’s Report, financial projections, financial statements, FCT, ORSA, capital analyses, reinsurance, and product profitability assessments
- Produce analyses and recommendations supporting business decision-making and strengthening the organization’s financial position
- Ensure rigor and compliance of actuarial practices with recognized standards and industry best practices
- Provide direction and coordinate selected actuarial work, including deliverables for governance bodies
- Help resolve complex issues, share knowledge, and support expertise development
- Build stakeholder alignment regarding recommendations, priorities, and proposed changes
- Identify and implement improvements to processes, tools, and ways of working
- Contribute to performance indicators, process mapping, and actuarial reporting practices
- Collaborate with the Finance and Corporate Actuarial Vice-Presidency, business units, and internal partners
- Provide analyses, reports, and recommendations for strategic decision-making and cross-functional initiatives
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science
- FCAS/FICA designation
- Minimum 8 years of experience in property and casualty insurance
- In-depth knowledge of actuarial standards, methodologies, and best practices within property and casualty insurance
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and contribute to complex initiatives
- Ability to assess the impact of corporate strategies on actuarial processes and operations
- Rigor, professional judgment, collaborative mindset, and excellent communication skills
- Influential leadership and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to support change initiatives
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Advanced proficiency in French
- Intermediate proficiency in English
- Ability to communicate and occasionally deliver presentations to unilingual English-speaking partners
- Knowledge of SAS or another statistical programming language and Power BI is considered an asset
