About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and implement interconnection and transmission strategies for energy projects across all U.S. ISOs and RTOs
  • Stay attuned to federal, state, ISO/RTO, and transmission owner rules for renewable generator interconnections
  • File and negotiate new interconnection agreements and studies with ISOs and third parties
  • Administer existing interconnection contracts, including financial, operational, and administrative terms and conditions
  • Support the Senior Director with financing readiness, common facilities agreements, and FERC filing activities
  • Manage relationships with ISO/RTO staff, transmission owners, generators, utilities, public power entities, and selected large customers
  • Collaborate with Origination, Development, Project Delivery, Asset Management, and Policy groups
  • Represent transmission and interconnection strategy before transmission owners, ISOs/RTOs, and regulatory stakeholders
  • Manage internal work procedures for interconnecting generators
  • Participate in conferences, boards, and taskforces to develop collaboration opportunities
  • Lead and develop a team of interconnection analysts through coaching, feedback, and professional development
  • Set priorities, direct day-to-day work, and manage team workload and resources across regions
  • Provide strategic direction and ensure coverage, technical support, and prioritization across U.S. ISO/RTO regions
  • Promote a collaborative, accountable team environment supporting knowledge sharing and consistent process execution

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Demonstrated expertise in negotiation of interconnection agreements with consideration of a renewable projects’ overall schedule and risk profile
  • Thorough knowledge of ISO tariff procedures and schedule for generator interconnections, applicable engineering, work practices and procedures, and safety requirements
  • Knowledge of Federal, ISO, FERC and state interconnection, market and transmission development, planning, interconnection and operating procedures
  • Strong ability to understand and communicate complex issues in a simple and understandable manner verbally and in writing
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with personnel at various levels within ISO, other transmission owners, members, and generation owners
  • Project management skills
  • Demonstrate expertise in relationship/team building and key stakeholder relationship building
  • Demonstrate ability to influence and lead others
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of the Avangrid Power organization
  • Prior experience managing a team in the renewable energy space
  • Minimum of ten (10) years related experience
  • Prior experience representing or negotiating business interests with a developer, regional or industry organization
  • Experience developing competitive transmission or generation projects
  • Engineering degree or similar
  • Must comply with applicable immigration requirements to legally work in the United States
