About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support projects and field engineering activities with average to complex features
- Perform engineering studies, propose solutions, develop models, and analyze data
- Interface with outside departments, vendors, suppliers, and reliability entities
- Develop or assist with presentations for management and external parties
- Plan and manage individual workflow to meet budgets and schedules
- Mentor and provide guidance to less experienced staff
- Support training on regulatory compliance issues and work with internal and external stakeholders
- Maintain standards, procedures, and processes for pipeline safety compliance
- Prepare work products for state and federal regulatory audits and inspections
- Evaluate and provide technical guidance on pipeline compliance requests
- Support pipeline safety initiatives and continuous improvement of systems and documentation
- Assist with agency responses and resolve non-compliance issues
- Research, compile, and prepare studies, regulatory responses, recommendations, policies, procedures, and correspondence
- Review documents, prepare checklists and audit agendas, conduct pre- and post-audits, and prepare final reports
- Support incident investigations and root cause analyses
- Communicate findings, prepare reports, deliver presentations, and share information with stakeholders
- Make systematic decisions under pressure, build consensus, and consider decision impacts
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Civil, or equivalent Engineering or Engineering Technology and 2-5+ years of job relevant experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, primarily Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Access, Visio, and SharePoint
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong time management, project management, prioritization, and organization skills
- Proficient communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Theoretical engineering knowledge in planning, operations, and engineering design
- Understanding of Federal and State Code requirements applicable to natural gas transmission and distribution systems
- Understanding of Integrity Management requirements applicable to natural gas transmission and distribution systems
- Experience researching, identifying, evaluating, and prioritizing problems or situations and coordinating appropriate actions or responses
- Practical engineering experience/application in planning, operations, engineering design, and construction
- Experience with planning, inspection, and analysis of Integrity Management Program assessments
- Ability to manage projects and collaborate effectively
- Ability to document and interpret engineering documentation and maintain documents according to company records retention requirements
- Experience with company O&M procedures, construction standards, material specifications, pipeline analysis and repair, Integrity Management Program, and other engineering process documentation
- Ability to review and verify engineering work done by others and ensure compliance with standards, specifications, contract requirements, and technical adequacy
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulatory standards and requirements applicable to natural gas transmission and distribution
- Preferred: understanding of ANSI, ASME, API, 49 CFR Parts 191 and 192, and applicable state pipeline safety regulations
- Must participate in a drug testing program for a Department of Transportation safety-sensitive position
- May be required to work in temporary operating locations during emergencies
