About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform electrical engineering for the construction of high-voltage electrical substations
- Plan and develop project scope, estimates, economic evaluations, alternative analyses, and equipment specifications
- Plan and coordinate larger-scale engineering projects, including scheduling, cost tracking, and coordination with Company departments and customers
- Perform engineering analysis to determine equipment ratings, insulation coordination, grounding, and lightning protection requirements
- Provide technical expertise to substation maintenance technicians and electric field operations personnel
- Help plan design and construction standards and determine installation and operating requirements
- Evaluate new products and vendors and provide equipment application and maintenance recommendations
- Develop maintenance programs and specifications, assess equipment, provide technical support, and develop maintenance practices and equipment specifications
- Provide preliminary designs and estimates for capital budget plans and System Planning studies
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree, BSEE, in an engineering discipline from an ABET (or equivalent) accredited university/college required
- 2+ years of relevant experience required
- Experience in engineering including electric substation maintenance and field engineering work
- Demonstrated substation maintenance and test experience is required
- Professional Engineering license in applicable state
- Knowledge of planning, operations, engineering design, analytics, modeling and calculation (e.g., symmetrical components, per unit)
- Practical engineering experience/application in planning, operations, engineering design, and construction
- Ability to document and interpret engineering documentation and review and approve engineering work done by others
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulatory standards and requirements, including NERC, NPCC, ISO, and PUC
- Ability to work in the United States under applicable immigration requirements
